Bite Your Tongue!

Bite Your Tongue
Network Marketers!

It happens to ALL of us … we want to TELL the world all about our product, company and opportunity!  Well, I am here to tell you that I want you to bite your tongue and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!

There are always 2 questions people ask themselves

    1. Can I do what you are doing?
    2. Do I want to do what you are doing?
This business is not about YOU or what you can do … this business is about what others THINK THEY CAN DO.

SHARE and SHOW with 3rd Party Tools.

Hopefully, your company provides you with these …

    • Web site with videos for product
    • Web site with videos for opportunity
    • DVD you can give someone
    • Audio CD you can give someone
    • Company magazine or catalog
    • Your product is a tool
    • Company-produced flier/brochure
    • Local opportunity meetings
    • Company events
    • Conference Calls
    • 3-way call with Upline

Let others “experience” your product, company and opportunity by utilizing 3rd party tools.  If you are “talking”, you are limiting their view as they can only see things through your opinions and perspective.

To your continued success in your business and life every day,

Are you working your business in your head?

The mind is a powerful thing.  It can be utilized in many great ways, taught many great things and also fooled very easily too.  There are many things you can be doing “in your mind” that make you think you are working your business, when in fact, you are not working at all.

The easy ones are …

  • Spending too much time on Facebook.  This is an effective business building tool IF worked properly, but most people waste time on it rather than build relationships – that’s a whole other post!
  • Email … another time waster and not business builder.  The #1 goal of most people with email is to ELIMINATE it!  Think about how you read your email …. ‘Glance, glance, glance, delete, delete, delete and delete!”  Email is necessary and used to communicate and if used properly can grow your business.
  • “Talking” about your business with others who are already in your business.  Sure, a necessary thing to do is to collaborate with associates, but rule that out of your “active business building activities”.

The above are common sense, however many confuse the above with actual “working” business time and activities.  Think about what activities produces you income?  In my profession, what makes me MONEY is one of 3 primary activities:

  1. Meeting someone NEW and scheduling an appointment
  2. Conducting an appointment and sharing my company, product and opportunity
  3. Making phone calls with my existing contacts to either a) schedule a first-time appointment or b) a follow-up appointment to gain their business.

Keep success simple!  Find your 1-2-3 and work your business in reality, not just in your head.

To your continued success in your business and life every day,

What impression are YOU making?

5 Quick Tips on Business Cards …
  1. Business Cards make an initial and lasting impression.   I recently attended an event which someone gave me a hand-made business card.  Ugh!  Really?!  Your business card should be professional and one of quality.
  2. Make a Statement.  Most business cards are predictable and they tend to all look the same.  Make a statement with your business card.  Be different and that alone will get their attention!
  3. Always Have Business Cards On Hand.  I am shocked how people are NOT prepared to do business at all times.  Keep them in your car, your desk, your briefcase, your workout bag …you never know when you will meet that person who will turn into business.  EVERYWHERE I go, I have business cards with me.  I was at a Christmas party Saturday night and because I had my business cards with me, I gained an appointment!
  4. Include Your Mailing Address on Your Business Card.  When you receive a business card that does not have a mailing address, doesn’t it look odd?  Doesn’t it look incomplete?  Don’t you become skeptical?   If you don’t want to publicize your home address, you can get a P.O. Box and use that as your address.
  5. Be SERIOUS about being in business.  Design and order your AMAZING Business Cards TODAY!   Call me if you need assistance.

My Top 5 and Why…

Books can change the way you think, believe, act and live

2012 Growth

My first introduction to the Law of Attraction and positive affirmation statements.  This is the same book I read years ago that the CEO of my current company (years later) read before boarding a plane in Texas, wrote his “I AM” statements on that flight which ended up changing the course of the company and his life … and ultimately mine.

2012 Growth

This book got me to S-T-R-E-T-C-H my dream muscles again!  We come into this world bright-eyed, no filters, no limiting beliefs and the word ‘no’ is not in our vocabulary (yet).  The ‘kid’ in me became alive again after reading this book!

2012 Growth

This book taught me about integrity, the ego, effective communication and to be at your best in all that you do.  The world would be a different – and better place – If everyone would live by the 4 Agreements.

2012 Growth

The most important word in the title of this book is THINK.  And, the RICH part comes as a result of 12 laws in which you follow and live by and ‘money’ is actually the last on the list of the twelve.  The life changer for me was identifying and writing down my definite purpose.

2012 Growth

“It’s easy to do, it’s easy not to do.”  The author says about a thousand times in this book.  It is the little things done consistently over time that make a big difference.  And, the difference between successful people and those who are not is actually very little!

Below is one of my ‘vision videos’.
I hope to inspire you to DREAM – ACT – ACHIEVE my friends!

2012 Growth

Easier or Better?

You have a choice and the result is a world of difference.

    1. 2012 Growth Do you think golfers would love the game better if there were no challenges?  What would the game look like and how fun would it be to play (and watch) if there weren’t sand traps, lakes and uneven greens to navigate?  Would a PGA champion feel like a champion if predictable and attainable by many?

    1. 2012 Growth ‘Better’ teachers face the same obstacles of the ‘structure’, yet some shine and empower their students to excel while others just get through the school year because it’s just easier to show up and do what is required, rather than go the extra mile.

  1. 2012 Growth I think we can all agree it is not easy to lose weight, yet some succeed and others do not.  WHY is that?  When someone decides they are going to be better at making choices of what they put into their body, and decides to be better at consistently working out a couple days a week and they decide they want a better life, they realize it is not easy, it takes effort over time.
If you find work, relationships and life challenging, find it in you to challenge yourself to be better.

Life’s BIG Questions …

Today is November 1st (2011) and we enter into the 11th month of yet another year.  Did it go fast?  Did you keep your New Year’s Resolution?  Do you even remember what it was?

I challenge you to GIVE UP on making resolutions and GET BUSY living on purpose EVERY day while you are here and while you have a chance to do something with your life.

Life’s BIG Questions …

  1. What do you stand for?
  2. What would you die for?
  3. Who do you love?
  4. Who loves you?
  5. What makes you feel alive?
  6. What is your personal mission statement?
  7. What are you passionate about?
  8. What motivates you?
  9. What interests you?
  10. What do you want the message of your life to be?

These questions are NOT difficult, but what is difficult is living a life without these questions being answered.

Take a bite out of “This Apple” my friends…

His life,
lessons
and legacy

… what we can learn

Steve Jobs
1955-2011

We may have lost the Edison or Einstein of our time, however in the short 56 years of Steve Job’s life, one thing that shines bright was his ability to “think differently”.

LIFE:   His insane greatness was to find his own journey and to live his life this way. He didn’t worry about being weird; he only wanted to be himself.  Each of us must find our own path. The unmarked path.  Be YOUR greatest self.

LESSONS:  You can’t “connect the dots” looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.  You have to trust the dots will connect in your future.  You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma or whatever, because believing the dots will connect down the road will will give you confidence to follow your heart even if it leads you off the well-worn path.

LEGACY:   All of us can look at Steve Jobs body of work, and the reaction to that body of work, and use it as an opportunity to ask more of ourselves as leaders and innovators with a chance to make a small positive difference for our industry, our customers, our colleagues, family, friends and ultimately in our world.  We have the chance to change lives each day by what we do and who we are.  Live each day as if it were your last.  Make your life’s work a passion to make a difference.

Failure is not an option? YES it is!!

Success FailurePersonally, I’ve never been a huge fan of the word “failure”.  It is like another bad “F” word.  However, I have learned to accept it in my vocabulary because in life and in business, those who see the most success are those who actually have failed!

  • Babe Ruth set the world record for the most home runs.  He also led the league in strike outs.
  • Michael Jordan won 6 NBA Championships.  He also was cut from his high school basketball team because the coach said, “he wasn’t good enough”.
  • Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb (which we know as electricity today).  He also found 10,000 ways that didn’t work first.
  • Colonel Sanders at the age of 64 hit the jackpot with his “secret recipe” for KFC.  He was turned down 1,005 times before he found a restaurant to use it.
  • Forbes named J.K. Rowling the first person to become a U.S. dollar billionaire by writing books.    Her first book – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – was rejected by 12 publishers before the 13th said yes.

I am not saying failure is fun.  However, I am suggesting that you don’t be afraid to fail.  You learn from the experience and/or the challenges it brings, you grow from it (if you are open to the lesson you are being taught) and ultimately over time will see success.

Face your fear head on!  You will be surprised that it (what you feared) wasn’t as bad as you thought and the reward of your efforts will far surpass the result of the actual outcome.  Go for it!

Swing and MISS my friends!

Take a swing!

It’s OK to miss sometimes!

Embrace the “Law of Averages”!

Babe Ruth @ .342        Derek Jeter @ .312

The GREATS of the game went to bat all season long and 7 times out of 10, they struck out!  Did they go to the dugout and cry and/or quit?!  No way!  They knew the law of averages and the more you swing, the more you learn, grow and ultimately succeed!

The GREATS in business also know the law of averages and here are a few places to spend your time working  through the numbers!

  1. Making NEW contacts.  Successful people talk to more people.  Keep your pipeline full of NEW contacts.  When you are not adding new to the pipeline you end up chasing those who aren’t ready yet.   Keep a steady flow of NEW contacts while you follow-up with previous contacts.
  2. Consistently schedule  NEW appointments.  I learned years ago a simple exercise.  EVERY Monday and Friday, schedule 5 NEW appointments.  When your list is always being added to, you can do this easily!
  3. Consistently follow-up OVER time.  80% of business happens between the 5th and 12th contact.  From the first phone call, to the appointment, to the many touches in between the result of you gaining business can be several ‘touches’.  Most people don’t even make ONE follow-up attempt let alone a second.

WINNERS keep stepping up to the plate!

To your continued success, wealth, health and abundant life,

Linda Thomas
