3 Things YOGA taught me about BUSINESS?

YOGA taught me 

about Business?  

 

  1. Don’t be intimidated by those more successful.
    When I attended my first yoga class, I looked around and knew I was ‘out of my league’.  It took everything I had to just get through that class!  Rather than be intimidated, I chose to be inspired!  We choose our thoughts and decide the direction our actions will follow.    Choose to be inspired rather than intimidated.
  2. Don’t be afraid to FALL.
    It had been more than 35 years since I had done head stands.  So, when my yoga instructor said we are doing them in class, my mind immediately began racing with fear.  Fear of falling!  As a kid, we didn’t think twice of trying and falling – even laughing about it too.  (The instructor reminded us of that).  Guess what?  I put my ego in my back pocket, attempted, fell a few times and then did it!  In network marketing, we have to FALL our way to success.  Be willing to fall — heck even have some humor about it — keep trying until you “stand on your own”!  Falling isn’t failing.  Not attempting is failing.
  3.  Don’t step off your mat!

    In yoga,it amazes me that for 90 minutes, I never leave a mat that is just 2ft x 5ft in size, yet, I have been more physically challenged than any workout I have done in my entire life!  How can so much be accomplished in such a little space?  In network marketing, our “mat” is even smaller and it is only about 20-22 inches. It is all in our head and it is our mindset.  The space between our ears is what keeps us moving through (or not) in this business.  Our intentions, our attitude and our actions all start in our mind.  Nourish it daily and let’s all stay ‘on our mats’!

I didn’t know what to say …

As I began writing my weekly message, I didn’t know what to say.  I was feeling a heaviness in my heart about the recent events in New Town, CT.  If you know me well at all, my intention is to be a beacon of positivity in the world and see the love and good in all people each day.  Some days, there are stronger influences that bring our hearts to our knees and it is those days that (I believe) it is more important than ever to share our hearts and express love and kindness to others.

We are a community of family, friends and business partners and what I know about us is that we are powerful as individuals and as a group, through our association with SendOutCards, we have a deep passion to enhance the lives of others by reaching out in kindness to others.  My message today is simple.  Share the gift of kindness in all that we do.  In our thoughts we are silently thinking to ourselves, to our words we say to others, to the actions that we take toward others, it is our kindness that is needed and what changes a life and our world.  It truly is one of the most simple things we can do and yet it (at times) becomes the forgotten thing to do.  May your day today and every day be filled with love and kindness to yourself and others.Linda

How December can be your BEST month of the year!

 December can be a fun, happy and prosperous time of the year in your business!  Yes, I know it might be a bit more of a challenge for others to give you their time, however most of us will see MORE people in the month of December than other months because of the additional ‘social’ situations.

At work parties or personal holiday gatherings, this is NOT the time to ‘conduct’ business, however this is the perfect time to CONNECT.  You can let others know what you are doing and you would like to call them (tomorrow or next week) and schedule a time to meet.  And, if they are too busy over the holidays, you are then booking your January 2013 calendar.  It’s a win-win!

 

 

 

Holiday Shopping is in full swing and can your business or service assist in their needs?  NOW is the time to pick up the phone and offer your services!  I actually had someone (just yesterday) say “Thank you.  I am so glad I met you today.”  She thanked me for offering my services and being my customer!

Lessons from Football?!

Tonight, my hometown Pittsburgh Steelers are playing prime time Thursday night football!  Our city is beaming (“steel town” -did you get that?!) with pride and bursting with excitement!

Here is a little life lesson with a toss of football for ya! 

Defensive Living: 

  • Letting others steer your life
  • Waiting to see what others do first
  • Reacting more than proactive
  • Chasing more than leading

Offensive Living:

  • Choose your own path of living
  • Take the lead and run with it
  • Proactive and planning your life
  • Inspire others to follow and grow

Take life just “10 yards at a time” and keep driving down the field one ‘first down’ at a time and before you know it, you will SCORE in your life!  The defense will be there attempting to take you down, but those challenges will build strength and character in you.  Get back up and continue driving towards that end zone my friends!   

Offense scores more than defense.  Keep playing!

CARTOONS can teach us something?!

 I am NOT the author of this edition of my blog.  I am thrilled to share with you the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the “Peanuts” comic strip.

You don’t have to actually answer the questions.   Just read the e-mail straight through, and you’ll get the point.

  1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world .
  2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
  3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America Contest.
  4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel Prize.
  5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. They are not second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

This one is to honor Steven Covey

I have been a student of personal development for decades and one of the first books I read on my journey of “me” was Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  The wisdom of Steven is priceless and timeless.  My personal take-away was that the reality in life and/or business comes down to our core personal principles, the relationships we build over a lifetime, we always need to be learning and we are always a work in progress as not only is the world constantly changing, so are we.

The 7 Habits:

1.  Be Proactive

2.  Begin with the End in Mind

3.  Put First Things First

4.  Think Win-Win

5.  Seek First to Understand then Seek to Be Understood

6.  Synergize

7.  Sharpen the Saw

BE PROACTIVE

  • Know WHAT you want to accomplish in your life and live each day in the PROACTIVE pursuit of achieving it!  Life is not a dress rehearsal.  You’ve got one shot to make this life an amazing experience.
  • Be PROACTIVE in cultivating and maintaining solid relationships – in both, your personal life and business.
  • Be PROACTIVE in your personal health.  It’s the small choices you make on a daily basis that contribute to a healthy body.  Eat well (90% of of the time … the other 10% treat yourself!) and move your body – at least 20 – 30 minutes each day – just 5-6 times a week – just that little bit of time done all the time makes a difference!
  • Be PROACTIVE in becoming the BEST YOU.  Each day nourish your mind with a book to help you learn and grow

Just a “taste” of what I have learned from an inspirational and informative mentor.  His work will continue through his books.  I encourage you to learn and grow from Steven Covey.

Don’t CRY about your WHY Linda?!

If you are a fan of setting goals in your business or life, then you probably heard the phrase, “find the WHY that makes your cry”.   Intellectually, I have always understood that your goal should be so important and mean so much to you that it brings tears to your eyes.  Emotionally, I know that my goals are felt deeply in my heart.  However, my inspiration to drive to pursue my goals (personally) does not come from tears, it comes from being excited!

I get EXCITED about my WHY!

 

  • What EXCITES you?
  • What do you dream about?
  • What do you think about so much that you would move mountains to make it happen?
  • What do you love so much that keeps you up at night?
  • What makes you jump out of bed in the morning and you can’t wait to do?
  • What would you do with your life if you had the time and financial resources?

Whether it is through tears or joy, my dream for you is to find your WHY and achieve all that you desire in your life.

What story are you painting with your life?

Stories … life is a collection of them and my wish for you is that you are gathering fun, meaningful and exciting stories!

Want an exciting life that means something?

  1. Your “work life” should be something you live to work for!  It shouldn’t feel like work at all and you should go to bed at night thinking I can’t wait to do more of this tomorrow!
  2. Enjoy time with your family and friends.  Our society is more connected than ever through digital media that we have also become the most disconnected society at the same time.  Turn off the gadgets and BE with others.  (Of course, after you are done reading this email!)
  3. S-T-R-E-T-C-H your dream muscles!  We are all meant to live abundant lives – in experiences and wealth.  Open your mind and heart to what sings to you and know when you DECIDE to bring it into your life, the universe will bring it to you..

 

Jimmy DickA book that changed my life and got me living a different life was The Magic of Thinking BIG by David Schwartz.  If you want to write exciting stories and begin painting an amazing life for you and your loved ones, this is a good place to start.  You are in the drivers seat of your life my friends!  Turn the key and floor it!
